Calasparra

Calasparra is an inland/rural destination, so it is best outside the strongest summer heat unless your plans are mainly food or cave-based.

• Spring (Apr-Jun): 17-27°C, good for the sanctuary, river scenery and rural drives.
• Summer (Jul-Sep): 29-38°C, hot above ground; plan early starts or cave/river activities.
• Autumn (Oct-Nov): 18-28°C, very good for countryside, rice-focused meals and viewpoints.
• Winter (Dec-Feb): 9-17°C, quiet and suitable for a shorter inland visit.

Calasparra’s sights are spread between the town, sanctuary, river landscapes and countryside, so a car is the most practical option.

• Walking: Free and useful in the town and around individual sights, but not enough for the full municipality.
• Bus: Allow around €2-5 for interurban journeys, but routes may not suit sightseeing stops.
• Taxi: Around €8-15 locally; more for the sanctuary, cave or rural pickup/drop-off.
• Car rental: Around €25-45 per day; recommended for sanctuary, rice fields and river areas.

• Budget: €35-55 per day, using free sights and a simple lunch.
• Mid-range: €60-90 per day, allowing for a better rice meal, fuel and a paid visit/activity.
• Luxury: €110+ per day with private guiding, rural accommodation or adventure activities.
• Attraction costs: Sanctuary area is generally free; allow around €10-12 adult for Cueva del Puerto-style guided cave visits and €25-45 for rafting/kayak activities if booked.
