Punic Wall (Muralla Punica)

The Punic Wall in Cartagena is a fascinating glimpse into the city's ancient past. Built in the 3rd century BC by the Carthaginians, it's one of the few remaining pieces of Carthaginian civilisation in Spain.

The Punic Wall stands as a testament to the Punic Wars, a major conflict between the Carthaginians and the Romans that shaped the Mediterranean world.

The Punic Wall Interpretation Centre offers a deeper dive into the site's history. Here you'll learn about the founding of Qart Hadast (Cartagena's ancient name) and see artifacts from this bygone era. There's also a 16th-17th century hermitage crypt called San José located next to the wall, featuring interesting murals depicting the "Dances of Death."

So, if you're interested in ancient history and want to see a unique archaeological site, the Punic Wall is definitely worth a visit.
