La Calera Dog Friendly Beach La Azohia

Located between Isla Plana and La Azohia in the municipality of Cartagena, this rough and ready dog friendly beach is a good spot for your furry friend(s) to enjoy a run on the beach or a dip in the sea. It is fairly self contained and is not massive, but long enough for your dogs to enjoy the sea air. It is not the best looked after beach with a bit of graffiti on the containing wall and sometimes there's some rubbish on the beach, but was spotlessly clean last time we visited – I think they have invested some money in it as the railings have all been replaced recently.

There is ample parking and the dog beach is just a short walk from the car park along a proper made up path. There are picnic tables if you wish to take a bite to eat or just sit and relax.

There is also a walk from here which takes you along the coast, mostly slightly elevated, to the paseo (promenade) of La Azohia. It is about 2 kilometres along mostly flat well made paths. In the summer you are awarded with a chiringuito (beach bar) as you enter the La Azohia beaches. There is also a picnic area along the route under pine trees and beautiful views of the Mediterranean!
