Águilas Town-Centre Beaches
Águilas has several sandy beaches within walking distance of its town centre, harbour and hilltop castle. That makes it easy to choose between a longer beach day and a quick swim while exploring the town.
Playa de Poniente is the longest option covered here and the one we tend to choose. The sand curves west from the town, and the La Colonia end has palms, a promenade and an attractive view back towards the castle headland. La Colonia itself sits closer to the old centre, while Levante occupies the more sheltered eastern side of the headland beside the harbour. Las Delicias continues farther east along the seafront.
The beaches are urban and easy to combine on foot, but they are not identical. Beach width, shelter and the location of seasonal services vary, so use the guide below to pick the section that best suits your visit.
Adapted access is published for all four beaches, with staffed bathing assistance and equipment operating at selected points during the announced summer season. Outside those dates the promenades and ramps remain useful, but do not assume that lifeguards, accessible-bathing staff or every facility will be available.
These central bathing beaches are not designated dog beaches. Assistance dogs are exempt from the general restriction, while other dogs should use one of Águilas’s signed dog-beach areas elsewhere on the coast.
