Halloween and All Saints’ Day in Murcia 2026: events and traditions

T

Total Travel Guide

Halloween falls on Saturday 31 October 2026, and there are several ways to spend it around the Region of Murcia: follow actors through Yecla’s old town, hear Lorca’s darker stories, brave a horror attraction in Tercia or take the children to a spooky scout event in Cartagena. The following day, Sunday 1 November, is All Saints’ Day: a time for remembrance, family traditions and seasonal sweets.

There is a quieter, distinctly Murcian side to October too. In Murcia city, La Orillica del Quijal brings an old local tradition back into the streets before All Saints’ Day. You can make a seasonal outing of it without spending the evening waiting for someone to jump out at you.

Here are five confirmed options, with the practical details that matter before you set off.

These are separate events across the region, not one city-wide programme. Confirm any programme changes and your booking before travelling; ticket availability can change.

Murcia city: discover La Orillica del Quijal

If you would rather explore local customs than a haunted house, start in Murcia city centre. Our Murcia city highlights guide helps you plan the rest of the day.

La Orillica del Quijal runs from 9 to 31 October 2026 in Murcia city centre. Its roots lie in exchanging nuts and seasonal produce around All Saints’ Day.

Participating shops offer small gifts to children, alongside decorations and walks exploring local history and mysteries. Make time for something to eat while exploring the centre.

Register for the free walks through QR codes in participating Nuevo Corazón de Murcia shops. Activities have individual schedules.

Yecla: an evening of legends in the old town

Yecla’s Leyendas y Misterios walk combines an official tourism guide with performances by local theatre group Tras El Telón. The town’s streets become the setting for stories drawn from its history and popular legends.

The tour starts in Plaza Mayor at 19:30 on Saturday 31 October 2026 and lasts approximately three hours. It is free, with a maximum of six people per reservation.

That makes it an evening’s main activity rather than a quick stop before dinner. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a layer for the later part of the walk. A neck induction loop is available on request when reserving; ask the tourist office about any specific access needs.

For anyone who enjoys a story attached to the places they visit, this is an appealing way to see Yecla after dark. For reservations and access enquiries, contact the Yecla tourist office at turismo@yecla.es.

Lorca: ghost stories with a historic backdrop

The ghost of the Palacio de Guevara and the lovers of the Alameda de los Tristes are among the stories used to introduce the Leyendas y Misterios walk in Lorca. An official guide leads the route past historic monuments, exploring the stories associated with their exteriors.

It begins at 19:00 on Saturday 31 October 2026, meeting at the Visitor Centre in the former Convento de la Merced, Puerta de San Ginés. Allow approximately two hours. The advertised adult ticket is €14.75, and booking is essential.

The organiser does not recommend this activity for minors. Although the booking information also displays a child ticket category, that should not be taken as a recommendation for children.

For adults, consider combining an afternoon exploring Lorca with the evening walk, leaving time for dinner afterwards. Book the Leyendas y Misterios walk through the official tourism booking service. Our Lorca historic-centre and castle guide can help you plan the afternoon.

Tercia: for those who want the scares

For a more overtly frightening evening, Tercia Horror Experience takes place in Villatercia, in Lorca’s Tercia district, on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October 2026.

The horror attraction opens at 20:00 on both evenings, with tickets priced at €5 in advance or €6 at the door. Around 100 actors and collaborators are involved in bringing the scenes to life, and the wider programme includes music, dance performances and food trucks.

There is also a separate costume challenge on Saturday at 18:30, with teams of six to eight people tackling a series of tasks. It costs €42 per team and requires advance registration by WhatsApp on +34 620 849 984. This contact is for the costume challenge; advance horror-attraction tickets are sold at authorised outlets.

Check the horror attraction’s age guidance before taking children; the wider programme’s mixed-age activities do not establish the suitability of the scary route.

Cartagena: a spooky outing for ages 6–16

Grupo Scout Narsés is organising a Pasillo del Terror on Saturday 31 October 2026, at the scout huts in Parque Polígono de Santa Ana, Cartagena. See our Cartagena destination guide for ideas elsewhere in the municipality.

The event runs from 18:00 to 21:00, costs €3, and is advertised for ages 6–16. Registration takes place at the door on the day.

This is a useful option for families looking for something specifically aimed at children and teenagers. It is still a scare attraction, though: being within the advertised age range does not mean every child will enjoy it. Ask about the intensity and accompanying-adult arrangements if you are unsure.

Also check the location before leaving: this event is in Polígono de Santa Ana, rather than Cartagena’s historic centre.

All Saints’ Day in Murcia: Sunday 1 November 2026

All Saints’ Day, or Día de Todos los Santos, is a Spanish public holiday on 1 November, which falls on a Sunday in 2026. Monday 2 November is not a region-wide public holiday in Murcia. For future trips, our Spain public holidays guide for 2027 explains the national, regional and local calendars; its dates apply to 2027.

For many families, this weekend is about remembering loved ones. Visiting cemeteries and taking flowers to family graves are longstanding customs in Murcia. Give people space for a quiet visit, and treat these places as settings for remembrance rather than Halloween attractions.

There is a sweeter side to the season too. Look for huesos de santo, made with marzipan, and buñuelos de viento, light fried pastries. Murcia also has pan de higo and arrope y calabazate, traditional treats worth asking about when browsing the stalls.

In Murcia city, the Todos los Santos market in Plaza de San Pedro runs from 23 October to 3 November 2026, daily from 09:00 to 21:00. It is an easy stop for seasonal sweets, nuts and honey between a walk around the centre and something to eat.

If you are staying after Halloween, leave Sunday for a gentler outing. Check individual attraction and restaurant hours and Sunday transport timetables before setting off; a public holiday does not mean every visitor attraction closes.

Choosing your Halloween evening

For a gentle seasonal outing, I would start with Murcia’s city-centre traditions. For storytelling and an evening walk, look at Yecla or Lorca, keeping Lorca’s age advice in mind. Tercia is the choice to investigate if scares are the main attraction, while Cartagena offers a clearly advertised age range for a family outing.

Pick one area and build the day around it. These events are spread across the region, and several overlap on Saturday evening. A relaxed afternoon, an early meal and one booked activity will be more enjoyable than trying to fit in three different towns.

The storytelling walks particularly depend on understanding the guide. English-language performances have not been confirmed for these listings, so check the event language before booking if your Spanish is limited.

For daytime alternatives, see our family-friendly places in Murcia and Cartagena day-trip guide.

Make it a Halloween overnight stay

If you are travelling for an evening event, choose your base around that event first. These two hotels are options to compare for Murcia city or Lorca; reserve the activity before committing to a non-refundable room.

Staying for the Cartagena children’s event instead? Compare places to stay in Cartagena. Plan the journey to Polígono de Santa Ana separately from sightseeing in the city centre.

Add a daytime tour or activity

For a longer stay, browse things to do in Murcia or things to do in Cartagena, including bookable Viator tours when available. Choose a daytime activity that leaves time to reach your Halloween venue, and check the language, age limits and cancellation terms. These are separate outings; the Halloween events above use their own booking arrangements.

Halloween and All Saints’ Day in Murcia: questions

When is Halloween in Murcia in 2026?

Halloween is Saturday 31 October 2026. Some activities begin earlier, so check the date of the individual event rather than assuming everything happens on Saturday night.

Is Halloween the same as All Saints’ Day?

No. Halloween is 31 October; All Saints’ Day, or Todos los Santos, is 1 November, which falls on a Sunday in 2026. Murcia’s October programme includes activities connected with both occasions.

Is Monday 2 November 2026 a public holiday in Murcia?

No, it is not a region-wide public holiday in Murcia. All Saints’ Day falls on Sunday 1 November in 2026. Check local calendars separately when planning your trip.

Do free events need booking?

Sometimes. Free admission does not guarantee a place: the Murcia guided walks and Yecla’s theatrical tour require advance registration. Follow the individual event’s booking arrangements.

Can I attend without speaking Spanish?

Check with the organiser. An attraction centred on visual scenes may be easier to follow than a spoken legends tour, but that is not a guarantee of English-language support or instructions.
