What's on in Murcia: 25–27 September 2026

Looking for something to do in the Region of Murcia this weekend? Cartagena’s Carthaginians and Romans festival reaches its finale, with the added bonus of free entry to some of the city’s biggest historic attractions on Friday. Elsewhere, Lorca combines its September fair with a major craft event, while Los Alcázares offers tapas and activities beside the Mar Menor.

Here are seven picks for Friday 25, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September, whether you’re planning a full day out or looking for something to do close to home.

1. Carthaginians and Romans: the final weekend in Cartagena

For spectacle, Cartagena is our headline pick. The Carthaginians and Romans festival finishes with battles, parades and fireworks, with Saturday’s Grand Parade of Troops and Legions at 18:30 the standout street event.

Saturday’s route runs from Plaza del Ayuntamiento through Calle Mayor, Puertas de Murcia, Calle del Carmen, Plaza de España and Alameda de San Antón towards the festival camp. Arrive early to choose a viewing spot.

2. Explore Cartagena’s major historic attractions for free

When: Friday 25 September, during each attraction’s usual opening hours.
Admission: Free at the participating sites below, for residents and visitors alike.

This is one of the weekend’s best opportunities for an inexpensive day out. Cartagena Puerto de Culturas and the Roman Theatre Museum are opening their doors for free, giving you the chance to tick off several major attractions without paying the usual admission charges.

The council’s announcement lists:

Choose two or three favourites, leave time for lunch, then enjoy the festival atmosphere. Friday is a local public holiday in Cartagena, so expect extra demand: arrive early and allow time for queues and parking.

The tourist boat, tourist bus and panoramic lift are excluded and remain chargeable. Check individual opening hours and plan transport separately if visiting Fuerte de Navidad.

3. Tapas, live music and fairground evenings in Lorca

When: Friday 25–Sunday 27 September.
Where: Historic centre and Huerto de la Rueda fairground.

Lorca’s September fair is a good choice if you like a day out that can drift from lunch into live music and an evening at the fairground. The Feria de Día brings tapas and performances to the city’s central squares, with the tapas programme starting at 13:00 across the weekend.

Friday’s music includes Timeless at 17:30 in Plaza de Calderón and Sunset Cover at 18:00 in Plaza de España. On Saturday, catch Sr. Lobo at 17:30 in Plaza de Calderón, while Sunday brings Kaliqueños at 17:30, followed by DJ Radiosol 80–90 at 19:30, in the same square.

The fairground rides and food stalls at Huerto de la Rueda open at 18:00 on Friday and Saturday, and 12:00 on Sunday. Budget separately for rides, food and any ticketed concerts.

4. Handmade crafts and local flavours at FERAMUR

When: Throughout the weekend; the event runs 24–27 September.
Where: IFELOR, Calle Santa Quiteria, Lorca.
Admission: €2 at the ticket office.

FERAMUR is the Region of Murcia’s official craft fair, bringing together handmade products, demonstrations, workshops and a gourmet food area. Expect opportunities to meet makers and watch traditional skills in action, with crafts ranging from pottery and esparto to textiles and leatherwork.

This year’s programme also includes a new EcoMURCIA area devoted to organic production. For a varied Lorca day out, combine a visit with lunch and the Feria de Día in the centre.

Opening hours: Friday and Saturday, 11:00–14:30 and 17:00–22:00; Sunday, 11:00–14:30 and 17:00–21:00. Last admission is 30 minutes before closing. Check individual workshop times before setting off.

5. Free live music at Mula’s September fiestas

When: Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September.
Where: Mula; consult the municipal programme for each venue and start time.
Admission: The concerts listed below are free, according to the council’s announcement.

Mula offers another option for a music-filled evening. Friday’s programme includes La Gran Fiesta Indie with Señor Aliaga, followed by Macrofiesta Kraken: La Rebelión de las Máquinas.

Saturday brings the Guerreras K-Pop tribute, a performance by Fraderita, and Los de Siempre, with tributes to El Canto del Loco, Fito & Fitipaldis, Estopa and Melendi.

If those are names that feature in your playlists, this could be your weekend pick. Choose your performance before travelling, as the programme covers several events rather than one continuous concert.

6. Tapas and a Mar Menor day out in Los Alcázares

When: Tapas route throughout Friday 25–Sunday 27 September; World Tourism Day activities on Saturday and Sunday.
Where: Los Alcázares, at participating venues and activity meeting points.

For a relaxed coastal option, head to Los Alcázares for the final weekend of its Ruta de la Tapa y el Cocktail. More than 30 establishments are participating, making this a good excuse to try somewhere new and fit in a walk beside the Mar Menor.

The organiser lists tapa-and-drink combinations from €4 to €7, with cocktails from €4 to €9. No registration is needed for the tapas route; availability follows each venue’s opening hours and lasts while stocks remain. The route finishes on Sunday 27 September.

There are also special World Tourism Day activities:

Saturday 26: a visit to the air base, a boat trip on the Mar Menor and a night-time urban-art safari.
Sunday 27: the Parques Vivos route and paddle yoga.

These activities require advance registration and have limited places. Confirm times, meeting points, any charges and remaining availability before making plans.

7. Antiques and classic cars at IFEPA in Torre Pacheco

When: Friday 25–Sunday 27 September.
Where: IFEPA, Torre Pacheco.
Hours: Friday and Saturday, 10:30–21:00; Sunday, 10:30–19:00.

Two fairs share the venue, making this a varied place to browse for a few hours even if you are not a dedicated collector:

Desembalaje de Antigüedades: antiques, vintage furniture, decorative pieces and collectables.
RetroAuto: more than 200 classic vehicles, with clubs, specialist exhibitors and model railway displays.

Advance tickets are available through IFEPA. You could also combine the fair with the Los Alcázares tapas route in number six and continue towards the Mar Menor afterwards.
