Weekly street markets are part of everyday life across the Region of Murcia. They are useful for fresh produce and household shopping as well as clothes, shoes and seasonal goods, and many are as well used by residents as they are by visitors.
The tables below concentrate on regular markets for which a current official source confirms the day and, where published, the location and hours. They are not a claim that every small market in the region is listed. The municipality of Murcia alone has dozens of markets across its districts and outlying villages; the council’s full district list is included in the sources at the end of this page.
Market arrangements can change for public holidays, roadworks and local fiestas. Treat the stated times as normal public trading hours, not a guarantee for a particular date.
Monday markets

Within the municipality of Murcia, the council also lists Monday markets in Algezares, Barqueros, Era Alta, Guadalupe, La Alberca, Lobosillo, Monteagudo, Puente Tocinos, Rincón de Seca and Sucina. Its online list confirms the day but not a single current street or trading time for each one, so check the relevant district notice before making a special journey.

What to expect at a weekly market
The exact mix changes with the traders attending, but Cartagena’s municipal description illustrates the usual range: everyday food, clothing, footwear, household goods, toiletries, accessories and small seasonal items. Larger coastal markets tend to have the broadest range; a small village market may be only a short row of useful stalls.
These are open-air street markets, not permanent food halls. Murcia’s permanent municipal markets and plazas de abastos operate to different schedules.
When to arrive
Most weekly markets are morning events. Arriving between roughly 09:00 and 11:30 usually gives a sensible balance: traders are set up, the full range is still available and packing-up has not started. Go earlier in hot weather or if buying produce. Near closing time some traders may reduce perishable stock, but choice will be smaller and vehicles may begin entering the market area for dismantling.
Where the official source says only “morning”, this page does the same. It would be misleading to turn that into a precise opening and closing time.
Parking and access
The streets occupied by the market, and sometimes the closest approach roads, will be closed to normal traffic. Use a signed public car park or park several streets away without blocking residents, loading bays or emergency access. Coastal markets such as Cabo de Palos and Puerto de Mazarrón can be particularly busy in summer.
If step-free access matters, remember that temporary stalls, kerbs and crowds can narrow the available route even on otherwise level streets. An earlier arrival is normally easier.
Public holidays, weather and seasonal changes
There is no single region-wide rule for what happens when a market day is a public holiday. Cartagena commonly brings many markets forward to the previous working day, while Barrio de Peral has its own published Monday-to-Tuesday arrangement. Mazarrón’s rules allow its council to move a market to the day before or after. Councils can also authorise a market to proceed on selected holidays.
Summer markets are explicitly marked in the tables. Severe weather, local fiestas, building works and safety restrictions can also produce one-off changes. For a long journey, check the relevant council website or tourism office on the preceding working day.
Practical market etiquette
Bring small notes or coins, carry a reusable bag and ask before handling delicate produce. Prices are normally displayed; if they are not, ask before ordering. Keep valuables secure in crowded aisles, and do not stand in vehicle access gaps while traders are setting up or packing away.
