Alhama de Murcia

Alhama works best when you can combine the town, thermal history, castle area and Sierra Espuña. Spring and autumn are the most comfortable all-round seasons.

• Spring (Apr-Jun): 17-26°C, ideal for the town, castle views and Sierra Espuña.
• Summer (Jul-Sep): 28-36°C, better for short town visits or shaded mountain routes than long midday walks.
• Autumn (Oct-Nov): 18-27°C, excellent for walking, viewpoints and local food.
• Winter (Dec-Feb): 10-18°C, usually mild enough for sightseeing and quieter routes.

The historic centre is walkable, but Sierra Espuña and countryside stops make a car useful.

• Walking: Free and best for the centre, museum area and short castle-view routes.
• Bus: Allow around €1.50-€3 for short local/interurban journeys where available.
• Taxi: Around €7-15 locally; more for Sierra Espuña access or rural routes.
• Car rental: Around €25-45 per day; useful if the natural park is part of the visit.

Alhama is good value for an inland day out. Costs rise if you use guided visits, rural activities or stay near Sierra Espuña.

• Budget: €35-55 per day, using town walks, viewpoints and a simple meal.
• Mid-range: €60-90 per day, allowing for museum/guided visits and car costs.
• Luxury: €110+ per day with rural accommodation, private guiding or longer meals.
• Attraction costs: Sierra Espuña routes are free; guided heritage visits in Alhama are often around €3 adult / €2 child when scheduled.
